Presented by Pier Entertainment, The Soundcheck Series highlights eight dynamic artists over eight weeks, showcasing a multi-genre collection of young, buzzworthy acts in an unforgettable concert experience and one-of-a-kind industry event. Each exciting installment features prominent music professionals, ranging from label execs to songwriters and media personalities, all of whom have etched their marks on Philadelphia’s brilliant music legacy.
Week after week, these accomplished experts present their hand-selected artist for a full hourlong performance, setting the stage for Soundcheck talent to showcase the complete, impressive range of their artistry. In addition, audiences get a glimpse into the backstage stories behind the growth and development of each act.
Hosted at one of Philadelphia’s newest concert venues—Pub Webb Live—the intimate music event provides a unique opportunity for media, fans and insiders to discover the area’s best talent within a forum booming with young energy, professional production and state-of-the-art sound.
This 8-week residency will take place Tuesday nights at Pub Webb Live and kicks off on June 2nd with BriaMarie, alongside 19x GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and Philly360 Creative Ambassador Carvin Haggins. The opening night special edition will also mark the release day celebration of Bria Marie’s long-anticipated debut album Freshman! The series will wrap up on July 28th with acclaimed singer/songwriter Lydia Rene.

Along with diverse musical influences, it is vulnerability, charm, and charisma that permeate Chartel’s live performances and leave the listener begging for more. She describes her sound and writing as “Pop-Soul”. It defies some of the traditionally expected elements of current mainstream music, but remains highly palatable to the masses through its soul-stirring delivery and universal subject matters.
Chartel recently released her first single,”Make Up Your Mind To Love” from her forthcoming debut EP. She was also named the 2014 “Best R&B Pop Artist” by the Philly Hip Hop Awards. A classically-trained singer, Chartel has opened for artists such as Aaron Camper, Syleena Johnson of R&B Divas, and gospel music icon, Deon Kipping.
Chartel has been a regularly featured vocalist by the jazz band, Vertical Current, opening shows for renowned artists such as Grammy Award-winners Robert Glasper and Eric Roberson. Chartel has been a background singer to BET Music Matters Artist, Leah Smith, joining her on stage at BET’s 106th and Park, The BET Honors, and numerous other stages along the East Coast. In 2013, she was nominated as Best New Artist in Philadelphia at the Philly Hip-Hop Awards. She has had the honor of performing musical tributes to soul singer Carol Riddick and legendary producer James Poyser of The Roots Band. She is active in music education and has also graced the theatrical stage, starring in and supporting productions throughout the greater Philadelphia region.
